Òscar Julve

Òscar Julve (Barcelona, 1972) is a renowned Catalan freelance illustrator based in Barcelona. He has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, with a specialization in painting and he also teaches. He has collaborated with magazines, publishers, and design studios, and thanks to his work in visual storytelling for young readers, he has even attracted the interest of animation studios.

Recently, he has ventured into graphic novels for young readers, creating his own solo projects such as Nico & the Dinos. 

He has received several awards, including the Llibreter Prize (2018), the Atrapallibres Prize (2019 and 2024), and the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Prize for illustrated stories (2017), as well as multiple Junceda Awards throughout his career.

When he is not drawing or writing, he observes, reads, and dreams up new projects —which, in the end, is almost the same thing.

My life has always revolved around drawing. It’s a hobby that takes over your whole life, a kind of strange priesthood.
