Asterisc Agents was founded in 2016 out of the drive and experience of two literary agents with a dynamic approach and an innovative spirit. Today, the agency features a carefully curated list of authors and international representations that strengthen the agency’s position in the national market and project it internationally.

The authors represented by Asterisc have received top-level awards, and their works have been translated worldwide. Constant travel and regular participation in book fairs and literary events have made this possible, helping books cross borders. Because good stories know no borders.

Over the years, Asterisc Agents has developed a strong consultancy and training leg through Asterisc Lab, which, together with Asterisc Agents, are two sides of the same project.

Publishing houses and publishers’ guilds (Galicia, Catalonia, Basque Country) as well as translators and uthors associations (AELC, APTIC) have all trusted Asterisc Lab’s expertise. Recently, some of our tailor-made workshops have reached Europe, such as the European project LitUp or the sessions for indie publishers in the Czech Republic, guest of honor at Frankfurt 2026.

At Asterisc Agents, the team continues to work with constant attention to detail and a distinctive personal approach, always staying true to the essence that drives the project from the very beginning: helping authors grow with the same passion as on day one, and with consistent, enthusiastic work.

Asterisc Agents, making authors grow

Carlota Torrents

Founder of Asterisc Agents. I have been working for twenty-five years in the fields of culture, publishing, cultural management, and education. Since 2008, I have been a literary agent — a profession as unique as it is fascinating — which I am passionate about and which keeps me up at night reading and looking for exciting new projects. I enjoy working closely with authors and supporting them throughout the creative process, whether it’s for a children’s book or one for adults.

As the Deputy Director of the Master's in Publishing at UPF-BSM, I teach our job to young editors, guiding them in shaping their future professional projects.

As a consultant, I advise publishing guilds and authors’ associations both national and international, as well as editorial projects. These roles allow me to stay in constant and up-to-date contact with the industry’s trends and shifts.

I was part of the creation of ‘Què llegeixes?’, the largest reading forum in Catalan language, which I managed for five years. I currently run ‘Poc Cas’, a podcast on children’s and young adult literature, firmly convinced that without young readers, the future of the world will be grey and apathetic.

Natàlia Berenguer

Partner at Asterisc Agents and part of the agency since it was a project we turned into reality with Carlota Torrents.

I envy those who knew what they wanted to be from a young age, because I never had a defined vocation. I wasn’t a lonely child who found refuge in books; instead, I grew up reading freely and doing many other things that have shaped me into someone with an open, curious character, allowing me to do my job from a position of utmost privilege.

I know the industry from two perspectives: publishing and agency work, and this world continues to surprise me every day. Literary agent since 2007, I love books and manuscripts that will one day be books, and I enjoy going to book fairs, where I can have a thousand conversations with editors from here and abroad. I am passionate about my work, and when I stop learning and having fun, I’ll have to reconsider what I want to be when I grow up.

Well, wait, I did have one big vocation, indeed: I wanted to be an archaeologist! Travel the world, work meticulously, both alone and in teams, discover different cultures, find hidden treasures, make them shine and accessible to everyone. So, maybe I haven’t strayed that far after all!
