Novelist, playwright and translator. His plays have been premiered and published in various countries in Europe and America. He is the author of the fantasy trilogy Karvadan. His plays include Temptació, premiered and published in several European and American countries; Suite (1999 SGAE Award); Oasi (Josep Amatller Award 2002), Trànsits (2006-07), Oblidar Barcelona (Born Award 2008), Zoom (Abril 14, 2009 Award), Nòmades (October 2019 Award) and Still Life. Monroe-Lamarr (Roda Award, 2018). All this works  can be found in one unique volume Teatre reunit. Carles Batlle (Arola, 2021). As an essayist, he has written, among others, Adrià Gual (1891-1902): per un teatre simbolista (Serra d’Or Critics Award, 2002) among others. He has been the director of the "Obrador", a space for experimentation and dramatic creation, at theater room Sala Beckett in Barcelona and director of the theatrical magazine Pausa. Between 1998 and 2005 he was a member of Advisory Board at the National Catalan Theatre TNC. He is a professor of drama and dramatic literature at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona and at the University UAB. He has been Director of Cultural Services at the Institut del Teatre until 2016 and 2022. He is the director of the academic journal Estudis escènics.
