There are many things that excite us when the year begins: the prospect of new texts about to be published, proposals from editors with unexpected projects, the upcoming fairs, and—as is beginning to become a tradition—the representation of new publishers or literary agencies. At the end of the year we welcomed three new travel companions: two agencies and a publishing house. Here’s who they are:
Wydawnictwo Mięta is an independent Polish publishing house based in Warsaw that publishes literature for adults and young readers. Its editorial philosophy revolves around experimentation, creativity, and narrative freedom, offering space to both established authors and emerging talents.
Pluh is an agency focused on Czech literature. It represents voices that have been awarded and translated into dozens of languages, such as Patrik Ouředník and Jáchym Topol. Pluh’s spirit is that these voices find readers around the world, and Asterisc Agents hopes to expand translations into Catalan, Spanish, Basque, Galician, and Portuguese.
Petula Chaplin Rights Agency, based in the United Kingdom, is a seasoned and passionate figure in the sale of publishing rights, especially in children’s and young adult literature. With more than 30 years of experience and a global network that spans fairs and publications, the agency embodies the idea that a good book is like a star waiting to be discovered. With Chaplin, we also hope to expand the scope of translations, particularly in the Latin American market.
