An Elegant Man

The Baltar family has an amazing cultural and human heritage. Attracted by the unusual profile of some of its members, Suso de Toro undertakes a search to try to reconstruct the history of this bourgeois family from Santiago de Compostela. At the center of the narrative, Ramon Baltar, an eminent surgeon who, despite being an "uncomfortable element" for the dictatorship, managed to maintain a certain status in the society of the time.
From the material gathered thanks to an intense documentation work, and with a digressive prose of addictive reading, the author writes a river novel, a fascinating hybrid between historical and psychological novel, a very local story - and, precisely for that reason, universal - spanning the entire Galician, Spanish and European 20th century.

An Elegant Man is, above all, an investigative novel: the persecution of an unknown figure, Ramon Baltar, a character committed to his time, to the people and to the country.
