At first glance, aging seems an inevitable consequence of being alive. But the fact that there are organisms that do not suffer any damage with age indicates that this is not an absolute truth. Many of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that determine aging have been already discovered. Some day, this could lead us to find ways to slow down, stop and even reverse the negative consequences of the passage of time, something humans have always pursued.

Is this dream at last within our reach? Can one really fight against aging? Could we even become immortal? In this book we will discover why we age, how we are trying to avoid it, and what consequences we might have to achieve our goal.
