A splendid adventure novel, with unexpected events as language and strangeness as a condition.

Junil a les terres dels barbars narrates the escape from the frontier of the Empire onwards, at the beginning of the Christian era, of Junil, the heroine of this story who glues papyri in her father's bookstore until he dies. She, in the company of some runaway slaves, undertakes the journey on foot from part of the European continent and learns to grope through the world, where gods and languages vary; but she will not do it only to escape the punishment that awaited her being accused of her father’s death, but also because of the irresistible lure of the verses of an exiled poet that will feed her day by day.

The great journey of four fugitives.
